The longtime co-host of the beloved game show has appeared alongside Pat Sajak for four decades and revealed that she’s struggling to process her life away from the show.

“I don’t want to think about that,” White, 65, said in a new interview with PEOPLE. “I mean, we’re a team. That’s depressing. I don’t even want to think about it.”

Last year, Sajak, 76, told Entertainment Tonight that retirement was on the horizon for the pair.

“We’re certainly closer to the end than the beginning,” said Sajak, who has hosted the show since 1981. “I’d like to leave before people tune in and look at me and say, ‘Ooh, what happened to him?’ I wouldn’t bet on seeing us in, like, 10 years, I would say.”

In her chat with PEOPLE, White said that the two have remained popular with Wheel of Fortune fans because they share a sibling-like bond.

“I think when Merv Griffin chose both of us, 40 and 41 years ago, he saw something between us — a brother-sister type relationship,” White said.

Looking ahead, she finds it hard to envision a time where the pair aren’t a part of the series. “I just visualize us just being there. I can’t think beyond that,” she said.

“I can’t imagine. Everybody relates Wheel of Fortune to Pat and Vanna. We’re like Ken and Barbie, you know?” she explained. “We’ve been in everybody’s homes for 40 years, so it would be weird having somebody else turn my letters.”

White went on to call the gig a dream come true.

“Who still says they love their job after 40 years? Me! I really do. It’s a fun show. Everybody watches and enjoys it and it changes people’s lives and it makes people happy. So it’s a great job.”
