Devin Haney launched Vasiliy Lomachenko across the stage in their heated final weigh-in with the Ukrainian now convinced he has the champion right where he wants him.

During Friday’s weigh-in, undisputed lightweight champion Haney uncharacteristically lost his cool and shoved his opponent with both hands with security piling in to separate the pair before more drama could unfold.

Three-weight world champion Lomachenko appeared calm and composed on stage, staring and smiling back at Haney during their final face-off with the American the one doing the trash-talking.

Haney is the taller of the two men and is excepted to come in considerable heavier than the 134.9lbs he hit the scales at on Friday..

But speaking after the weigh-in chaos, Lomachenko insisted it was a show of fear from the younger man.

‘Now he is mine,’ Lomachenko said straight after the incident. ‘He don’t have the power.’

‘Because he’s scared. He’s scared. Because I see right now. I see right now and a hundred percent [he’s scared].’

Haney meanwhile admitted emotion did get the better of him but believed the show of strength was an example of how he can overpower the smaller man on the night.

‘The time has finally come,’ Haney said.

‘It’s been a long time coming. It’s been four years. I’ve always dreamed of, you know, facing off with him and the emotions set in now that it’s finally time.’

‘That was just the start. You see how easy I pushed him? He’s a smaller man and I’m gonna impose my will on him.’

24-year-old Haney has won all 29 of his professional fights, winning the WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF lightweight titles in June last year against George Kambosos Jr, defending the titles four months later against the same opponent.

Lomachenko, 35, is considered perhaps the best fighter of his generation, having won world titles in three different weight classes in just 19 professional fights.
