After struggling mightily in his Summer League debut, first overall pick Victor Wembanyama answered the bell in a big way in game two with a 27-point, 12-rebound performance.
Even though it was a nice bounce back for the French basketball phenom, Wemby wasn’t satisfied.
“I was just getting going,” he said following the 85-80 loss. “I wish we would have won the game. I think I could have done more. … Have to keep learning. … It’s normal to get better every game.”

Wembanyama finished 9-of-14 from the floor and 7-of-12 from the free-throw line after going just 2-of-13 on his field goal attempts in the first game. He also added three blocks on the defensive end.
The 7-foot-5 center was able to carry some of the momentum from his second quarter explosion (which included a nasty putback slam) into the final two frames. However, it wasn’t enough to overcome the 14-point deficit his team had entering the fourth.
Next up is a Tuesday night matchup with the Wizards.
