Victor Wembanyama is already getting accustomed to some American culture.
After the Nathan’s Famous hot dog eating contest on Tuesday, the NBA’s No. 1 overall draft pick took to social media to pay his respects to all-time great competitive eater Joey “Jaws” Chestnut.
On his Instagram story, Wembanyama referred to Chestnut as the “most dominant athlete of all time.”

Chestnut claimed his 16th Nathan’s Famous title this afternoon, putting down 62 hotdogs and buns in 10 minutes. This win marked his ninth straight victory in the iconic Fourth of July event.
Chestnut was unable to beat his own world record of 76 hotdogs, but he still blew the rest of the field out of the water. Geoffrey Esper took second place with 49 hot dogs, 13 behind Chestnut.
Chestnut has claimed 16 victories in the last 17 Nathan’s Famous hot dog eating competitions.
While the “athlete” portion of Wembanyama’s argument may be up for debate, there’s no question that Chestnut is one of the most dominant competitors of all time.
