A reel is going viral on social media featuring a bikini-clad woman walking on a beach. The caption shared along with the reel claims that the woman is the tallest in the world and is 8’7” tall.

However, we found that the woman in the video is not the tallest woman in the world through our investigation. Here is the truth:

The above video shows a woman dressed in a red Bikini walking on a beach. The caption of the Reel says, “World’s tallest girl (height 8’7”, age 18 years)”. So, is this girl really the tallest in the world? Let us find out.

Fact Check

We did a Google reverse image search on the screenshots of the reel and found the video published on the social media handles of Jayz Calles. As per her Instagram profile, Jayz Calles is a Venezuela based model. The video she posted on Facebook, along with others, can be seen below:

She has also posted her photos with her partner and we can see that she looks slightly taller than him even when she is wearing heels. If she is 8’7” tall, then she is not only the tallest woman in the world but the tallest person too. The tallest man alive is 8’1” tall. Hence, it seems unlikely that she is 8’7” tall. She is also not 18 years old as she celebrated her 19th Birthday in 2021.

The tallest woman ever recorded was a woman named Zeng Jinlian from China. She was born on June 26, 1964, and at the time of her death on February 13, 1982, she measured 8 feet 1.75 inches (248.3 cm) tall. Her incredible height was due to a tumor on her pituitary gland, which caused an overproduction of growth hormone. Her height has remained unbeaten in the Guinness World Records for the tallest woman ever.

The tallest woman alive today is Rumeysa Gelgi from Turkey. She is 7ft 0.7inches tall and currently holds the Guinness World Record for tallest woman alive. Rumeysa suffers from a condition called Weaver Syndrome. Weaver syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that affects physical development and can cause a range of symptoms. It is caused by a mutation in a gene called EZH2, which is involved in controlling gene activity. The condition is characterized by accelerated growth and bone maturation, resulting in children with a large head size, tall stature, and advanced bone age. Other features of Weaver syndrome may include developmental delays, intellectual disability, poor coordination, and distinctive facial features. There is no cure for Weaver syndrome, and treatment is based on managing symptoms.

Rumeysa also holds three additional records in Guinness Book of World Records. They are listed as follows:

  • Longest finger on a living person (female): 11.2 cm (4.40 in)
  • Largest hands on a living person (female): her right hand measures 24.93 cm (9.81 in) and left hand measures 24.26 cm (9.55 in)
  • Longest back on a living person (female): 59.90 cm (23.58 in)
