Fact-check

Alt News performed a reverse image search using stills from the video. This led us to the original video posted by the Pakistani media outlet Capital TV on June 23, 2022. The accompanying report mentions that two-wheelers were seen skidding in Pakistan’s Karachi due to heavy rains.

کراچی میں بارش کے بعد پھسلن، متعدد موٹر سائیکل سوار حادثے کا شکار

One India News also shared the video in question on June 24 as Karachi.

Pakistani news website ‘Jang’ covered the clip in a June 23 report. It said that the footage was taken at Karachi’s Rashid Minhas Road. Furthermore, vehicles were seen skidding on several roads in Karachi after heavy rains, as was the case with the two-wheelers in the viral video.

We performed another search which led us to a location on Google Maps. A Honda showroom appears at the 0:05 mark in the viral video. Alt News discovered that there is also a Honda showroom located on Rashid Minhas Road. A quick look at photos of the Honda showroom on Google Maps confirms that the clip is, in fact, from Karachi.

The Honda showroom and bridge can be seen clearly in the below screenshot taken from Google Street View.

To sum it up, the viral video of motorcyclists slipping and falling on a bridge due to heavy rains is not from any Indian city, but from Pakistan’s Karachi.
