A video showing a huge crowd pulling a chariot is widely circulating on social media claimed as showing recent visuals of the Jagannath’s Rath Yatra in Puri, Orissa.
Rath Yatra is a colorful festival, which draws millions of devotees from various parts of the country as well as from abroad to Puri, is held in June-July every year.
The caption of the video states, “What is faith? What is discipline? Would like to see? So watch this video clip of Jagannath ji’s Rath Yatra. Millions of people moving in unison, together!”
Fact Check-
We found this video available on YouTube posted on 2 May 2018. According to the information mentioned in the caption and description, this video is from Madurai Chithirai festival in 2018.
The video was captured on day 11. The caption states, “MEENATCHI CHITHIRAI THIRUVIZHA 2018 DAY 11. (THEROTTAM.) MADURAI MANVASAM.”
Keeping this in mind, we ran a keyword search on Youtube and found
similar visuals posted in April 2018. The caption of the video states, “Madurai Chithirai Thiruvizha 11th Day Therottam 2018.” We found that the chariot seen in this video is same as the one in the viral video.

Fact Crescendo found the video to be shared out of context. The viral video does not show the recent Rath Yatra in Puri. The video is of Madurai Chithirai festival in 2018. The viral video is not of the Puri Rath Yatra in 2022.
