Video-UVeye Demos Drive-Through Inspection Stations, Reveals EV’s Tire Issues

0

Adoption of automatic vehicle drive-through inspection stations developed by Israeli tech company UVeye is growing as automakers, dealers and suppliers become sold on their ability to quickly detect a variety of physical defects and flaws.

General Motors, Volvo, CarMax, Hyundai Motors and Toyota Tsusho have all invested in the growing company.

We’ve seen photos and videos of the UVeye systems and spoken several times with the company’s CEO and founder, Amir Hever and chief marketing officer Yaron Saghiv, but until Monday, we’d never seen the system in-person.

In a corner of the vast GM Technical Center in Warren, Mich., just north of Detroit, UVeye’s inspection stations are in use at the GM Service Learning Center. That’s where Forbes.com gathered with several UVeye executives and Leo Gruzas, the manager of the SLC for a live demonstration.

We didn’t know what UVeye’s technology would find when a Buick Envision made its quick entry and exit, but it took only seconds to discover what the naked eye might never observe.

An explanation of how the UVeye systems work, the demo itself, what it found, plus a revelation about what UVeye inspection stations in use have already discovered about tires wear on battery-electric vehicles that owners and potential owners should know are all in this video.
