Elyse Villani has notched back-to-back centuries in the WNCL as Tasmania posted 264 batting first against South Australia in the final.
The in-form skipper hit 110 from 126 balls at Blundstone Arena on Saturday afternoon, her third triple-figure score in her past four WNCL innings.
It followed a mammoth 174 not out from 149 balls against Western Australia – the highest-ever score by a Tasmania player in the competition.
Villani shared a 139-run stand with Naomi Stalenberg (75 from 89) after the pair came together at 3-105 in the 21st over.
She was out stumped off the spin of Jemma Barsby in the 46th over chasing quick runs.
Her departure sparked a dramatic collapse, with Tasmania losing their last seven wickets for just 20 runs to be bowled out in exactly 50 overs.
After losing the toss, Tasmania got off to a flying start on the back of Villani and opener Lizelle Lee’s 46-ball 48.
They hit a hurdle when South Australia spinners Amanda-Jade Wellington (4-49) and Anesu Mushangwe (4-38) combined to spark a mini-collapse of 3-26.
Wellington had Lee caught in the deep, before getting rid of Nicola Carey cheaply with a looping leg-break that caught the inside edge and was snaffled by wicketkeeper Josie Dooley.
Wellington returned late to good effect, taking two wickets in two balls in the penultimate over.
South Australia’s Madeline Penna left the field for part of the innings after copping a nasty blow to the forearm.
Tasmania, who finished top of the ladder to earn hosting rights, are aiming to become just the second team to win back-to-back WNCL titles.
They beat South Australia in the final last season to claim their maiden silverware, with Villani also hitting a century.
