With the action now shifting to the one-dayers, Kohli will be hungrier for runs and will look to make the most of his form in the 3-match ODI series against the Aussies starting March 17 in Mumbai.
Multiple records await Kohli in his favourite format, one of which will be Ricky Ponting’s record of most ODI runs at home.
Kohli is just 48 runs away from surpassing the Australian legend for most runs in the ODIs at home. While Ponting in 153 home ODIs scored 5,406 runs, Kohli has 5348 runs in India in 107 matches.
Legendary Sachin Tendulkar leads the charts with 6,976 runs in 164 ODIs in India.
Kohli will also be needing 191 runs to complete 13,000 runs in ODIs. The 34-year-old will then become the fifth batter ever after Sachin, Kumar Sangakkara, Ponting and Sanath Jayasuriya to achieve the feat.
With 46 centuries to his name, Kohli will also be eyeing to inch closer to Sachin’s 49 ODI centuries record in the upcoming series against Australia.
