The USA is currently one of the countries open to UK travellers for holidays, but it does have strict entry rules in place.

You’ll need to be fully vaccinated against Covid if you want to visit the US for non-essential travel reasons such as holidays.

You’ll need to be able to show proof of your vaccination, as well as proof of a negative Covid PCR test result taken within 72 hours before departure. Face masks are mandatory in planes as well as airports.

Children under 18 are exempt from the vaccine requirements, but they will need to take a test within 3-5 days of arrival (and self-isolate if they develop symptoms or test positive).

However, it’s worth noting that New York City has new rules which include a requirement for anyone aged 12 or over to be fully vaccinated in order to access the likes of indoor restaurants and ‘entertainment and performance venues’ such as theatres.

Travel restrictions can change quickly during the pandemic so always check the latest Foreign Office advice for a destination before booking or going on a trip abroad, as this will contain important information such as entry rules and other local Covid rules you may need to be aware of.
