The Swedish automaker’s first fully electric car starts at $72,600 this side of the border

Volvo announced pricing on its first fully electric vehicle — the 2022 Volvo C40 Recharge — early December, revealing it will start at $72,600 when it goes on sale in Canada in 2022.

The car is available for pre-order online by providing a $500 deposit at volvocars.ca, or at the company’s many retail locations in Canada.
“A streamlining of the purchase process — both online and in store — presents our customers with a transparent, flexible, and convenient way to drive electric,” said Matt Girgis, managing director of Volvo Car Canada Ltd.
For the price, you’ll get twin electric motors in the C40 Recharge, which features a 78-kWh battery that can be charged up to 80 per cent in about 33 minutes. The model is also the first to feature a leather-free interior.

The all-wheel-drive powertrain generates up to 402 hp and 486 lb.-ft. of linear torque, allowing it to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in about 4.7 seconds. Offering a battery range of around 360 km, it’s also equipped with Google Android apps for navigation, voice-assisted control, and media playback.
Also standard is an oversized panoramic moonroof; advanced pixel LED lighting; Harman-Kardon speakers; a 360-degree surround-view camera; and 20-inch wheels.
Volvo is providing a ‘Care Offer’ with the sale of its C40. In addition to roadside assistance and the full Volvo New Car Warranty, the offer provides owners with complimentary maintenance service and wear coverage on select items for the first four years, or 80,000 kms.
