You can add wildly-popular Shake Shack to Walnut Creek’s evolving fast-casual burger scene.

Come Sunday, March 5, George’s Giant Hamburgers, The Habit, Gott’s Roadside, Burger Lounge and MOOYAH will face new competition when the New York City-founded counter-service restaurant famous for double cheeseburgers, hand-spun milkshakes and crinkle-cut French fries makes its debut at the corner of Mt. Diablo Boulevard and Locust Street.

The 10th Bay Area Shake Shack location and first in Contra Costa County is one of the biggest to date, with two levels of seating and a walk-up window. It will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily at 1604 Mt. Diablo Blvd., Walnut Creek. A DJ will be spinning tunes on March 5 and the first 100 guests will receive a limited-edition Shake Shack gift. During opening day, Shake Shack will be donating $1 to White Pony Express for every sandwich sold.
