The pumped up wicketkeeper-batter, who was born in Karachi and played for Pakistan U-19 team before moving to the USA, said he wanted to show Kohli that there was another talented batter on the block waiting for his opportunity in the big leagues like the IPL.
“To play against Virat Kohli, that’s my ultimate goal. Play against him, and show there’s another, I wouldn’t say king, but another batter on the block, waiting for the opportunities in all these big leagues and show what I am capable of,” Jahangir was quoted as saying to ICC.
Shayan Jahangir smashed a hundred for the USA after coming in to bat at number seven, however, the gutsy knock went in vain. Jahangir scored 39 runs against West Indies in his first outing in the World Cup Qualifiers 2023.
Overall, the 28-year-old right-hand batter has scored nine ODI matches and scored 235 runs at an average of 33.57 and a strike rate of 90.73.
