Frank Warren couldn’t help but chuckle after hearing Eddie Hearn’s recent comments that Anthony Joshua has a better resume than Tyson Fury. Warren – who promotes Fury – returned fire by stating that anyone who knows boxing, knows that Fury is of a higher caliber.
Joshua and Fury had been set to face each other on December 3 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. However, communication dropped at the eleventh hour leading to Derek Chisora stepping in to face The Gypsy King on the same date.
Since then, both Warren and Fury have stated that AJ is no longer in their future plans leaving the long-awaited all-British showdown in doubt. Hearn has always maintained that the fight will happen as the public want to see it but after two failed attempts, Queensbury Promotions have lost patience.
When discussing Fury vs Joshua, Hearn was asked about how the two men’s resumes stack up. Speaking to Pro Boxing Fans, he said: “His [Joshua’s] resume is in a different league than Tyson Fury. Tyson Fury has fought Wladimir Klitschko and Deontay Wilder. That’s it in terms of elite heavyweights. I know Dillian Whyte was a good fight, but I’m talking about the top, top guys consistently.
“He’s always thrown in a couple of easy fights, whether it’s Tom Schwartz, whether it’s Pianeta, whether it’s Sefer Seferi, Christian Hammer. AJ, over the last ten fights, hasn’t.
“Tyson Fury is an outstanding fighter, but AJ isn’t Tyson Fury. He’s not going to start slagging people off, getting in their face, and calling them dossers, rabbits, and happy teeth. It’s just not his thing.”

Scratching his head in disbelief when they were recounted to him, Warren responded to Hearn’s claim on the Queensbury YouTube channel: “You’ve got to give him his due, he’s a green boxing promoter. He’s always recycling and flogging the goods; he never gives up on them.
“Anyone who knows anything about boxing knows the position of those two fighters and anybody knows what would happen if they ever met and that doesn’t look like it anytime soon. But at the end of the day, he has something to say about everything so who cares.”
For reference, the two men’s best wins are as follows, Fury: Wladimir Klitschko, Deontay Wilder, Dillian Whyte, Otto Wallin, Chisora. Joshua: Klitschko, Whyte, Alexander Povetkin, Andy Ruiz Jr, Joseph Parker.
