Warren losing patience as Joshua camp stall on renewed Fury contract

Frank Warren is getting fed up with the drawn-out negotiations for Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury. The British promoter sent back a renewed contract on Tuesday after Eddie Hearn raised concerns about a number of undisclosed points in the original paperwork received on September 16.

However, Joshua’s team recently stopped responding and Warren is growing increasingly frustrated. Speaking to talkSport, he said: “Nothing has come back red lined, we’re waiting now for the contract — that’s what we’ve been waiting for, we’ve been promised it. They sent back a contract on about 11:30 on Monday and then we went backwards and forwards on that and since then they’ve now had to come back again and they haven’t come back.

“I’ve gotta say it’s not rocket science. And by the way Simon (Jordan), you’ve been involved in this, you’ve got a transfer deadline in football on the Premiership on transfers — you move heaven and earth to get it over the line on the day. I don’t understand, and the only reason this is not going on is because for me it can only be that Joshua doesn’t want it.”

Shedding further light on the contractual situation, Warren confirmed he has sent a marked-up contract to AJ’s camp in response to their new demands on Monday but hasn’t been given a signed copy back as of yet.

He continued: “It’s really simple. Matchroom need to send back the contract, pick up the phone, get the lawyers on a Zoom and work it out today, it’s not rocket science, this. As I say, look at it like the last day of the football transfer deadline and that’s what you have to do.”

Providing all goes to plan, Fury and Joshua will square off on December 3 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Fury is set to receive a 60/40 split of the overall purse with a rematch clause signed into the contract at 50/50.
