After 11 seasons and four NBA titles with the Golden State Warriors, Draymond Green opted out of his player option with the team. But is his time with the team really coming to an end?
On Monday, Green opted out of his player option with the Warriors, making him a free agent. However, his agent Rich Paul said that Green has resumed talks with the Warriors to “explore all options. In a tweet, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Warriors are “motivated” to sign him to a new deal.
“We will continue to talk to Golden State and explore all options,” Paul said.
This could be Green’s effort to take less money with the team in order to help them build the roster for future title runs. It wouldn’t be the first time he’s done something like that.

Back in 2019, Draymond Green signed a four-year, $100 million extension to stay with the Warriors. At the time, he could have made a good deal more money if he had tested the free agent market.
Instead, Green stayed with the team that drafted him in 2012 and was rewarded in the form of an NBA title in 2022.
But whether Green returns to the Warriors or winds up playing elsewhere, it certainly helps that he is continuing to perform at a solid level for a starting power forward.
Will Green finish his career with the Warriors?
