These cozy chalets make for a unique dining experience.
Washington, DC, isn’t a destination you’d typically think about as being home to Christmas markets and ski chalets. But, the Four Seasons Hotel Washington, DC, decided to change that notion this season by offering various winter wonderland programming, including custom-made wooden chalets.
The property transformed the patio of its restaurant, Bourbon Steak, into a whimsical retreat by setting up chalet suites inspired by iconic Four Seasons ski resorts from Vail to Jackson. Inside, diners enjoy a cozy setup complete with a private table where you can order items like an ice-wine martini, hot miso buttered shellfish platter, an 18-ounce dry-aged bone-in New York Steak, and smoked s’mores. There’s also a foie gras parfait, all prepared by Executive Chef Robert Curtis. Of course, a glass of champagne is necessary. Meanwhile, firepits with couches and blankets are set up outside the chalets creating another unique winter-themed lounge location.
You can also grab a seat by the fire pit.
Aside from the chalets, the hotel also launched several other offerings to make the holiday seasons a little more magical in the capital. For example, on December 10 and 17, young guests (and their adult companions) can partake in the Teddy Bear Tea. That means you can chow down on mini sandwiches, scones, and petits fours while sipping hot chocolate or sparkling wine. After, you’ll step into an entire room dedicated to dessert filled with cotton candy, sweets, and cakes. The best part of all? Each child gets a Children’s National Teddy Bear presented by dancers from the Metropolitan School of the Arts in costume.
Kids will love this in-room igloo.
Younger guests can also enjoy an in-room “igloo” setup where a faux ice palace is set up, making for a unique play space for kids. And that’s not all. There’s an on-site holiday market with vendors ranging from jewelry makers to contemporary artists, a hot chocolate bar, and other food purveyors to keep bellies full while rotating musical artists keep visitors entertained.
Guests can book the Staycation package if they want to sample a little of everything. It includes a complimentary room upgrade, late check-out, a special offer on spa services, a complimentary dog package, and more. The team will also help you set up reservations in one of the chalets for dinner and book a seat at the Teddy Bear Tea if in town during one of the sessions.
While the exclusive holiday offerings were created to delight families, they also do good. As part of the hotel’s long-standing relationship with Children’s National, a portion of the proceeds from these experiences will be donated to the hospital. Plus, famed decorator Tom Kehoe worked with eight patients to bring their holiday artistry to life.
“We are so excited to literally Light Up the Season this year,” Marc Bromley, Regional Vice President and General Manager, said in a statement. “Our guests will be in awe of our new holiday decorations, lighting up the entire block, inspired by patients of Children’s National. The entire Hotel will transform into a winter wonderland.”
