Burhanpur:

The three-year-old child seen in a viral video reporting his mother to the police for not giving him candy has received a grand Diwali gift, that too from Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra. In a new video, the boy is seen trying it out – a shiny new bicycle.

Narottam Mishra spoke to the boy, Hamza, yesterday after watching his video, and promised to send him gifts on Diwali.

Little Hamza went on Monday to the police station in Burhanpur’s Dedtalai. He had asked his father to take him to the cops because his mother “stole” his candy and slapped him.

In the video, Hamza is seen talking to a policewoman who barely hides her smile as she takes down his complaint.

“Ammi stole my candy, put her in jail,” he tells sub-inspector Priyanka Nayak.

Ms Nayak listens gravely and asks questions while taking notes, putting on a show of registering his complaint.

The widely shared video soon reached the Home Minister and he “ordered” action.

Police officers went to Hamza’s home last evening and delivered the bicycle and chocolates sent by Mr Mishra.

The cops are seen helping him with the cycle and stuffing a basket attached to the cycle with candy.

Hamza’s father gave his own version of the story. His mother had just tapped him gently on the cheek for demanding candy, he said. “That upset Hamza and he asked me to take him to the cops,” he said.
