NEW DELHI: Chennai Super Kings returned in front of their home fans at Chepauk after 1426 days as they are playing their first home game in the IPL 2023 against Lucknow Super Giants on Monday.
The MA Chidambaram Stadium underwent renovation and this is the first time that the stadium will be fully operational since 2008. The moment CSK skipper Dhoni flipped the coin at the toss, the crowd went berserk and roared to cheer for their skipper.

“It does mean a lot to be back here. IPL started in 2008 but we’ve not played a lot of cricket here. Only about 5-6 seasons we’ve been here. This is the first time the full stadium will be operational, a few stands were empty earlier. Really glad that we get to play all our home games here at Chepauk, means a lot,” Dhoni said at the toss.

Lucknow skipper won the toss and asked Chennai to bat and made one change from their previous match playing XI with Yash Thakur replacing Jaydev Unadkat while CSK remained unchanged.
Chennai suffered a five-wicket defeat in the tournament opener against Gujarat Titans.
