Daft Punk‘s Michel Gondry-directed music video for “Around the World,” beloved standout from their acclaimed 1997 debut album Homework, has seen a second light with the release of the project’s original storyboard. The video showcases hand-drawn scribbled instructions that bring the viewer back to the original creation of the film. The original music video, which included dancers, a group of mummies, and women in swimming attire, can all be seen in the storyboards, originally part of the group’s DVD, D.A.F.T., also released in 1997.
Though the duo officially disbanded in 2021, Daft Punk recently launched a website without context, with the only message being “Archives Loading.” We can suspect that this storyboard will not be the only of its kind and that more behind-the-scenes content may soon surface. The duo also commemorated the 25th anniversary of Homework by releasing a deluxe edition of the album and hosting an exclusive livestream of one of their earliest shows via Twitch.
