Ever wonder what constructors do with old Formula One cars? Mulled over how many of them live out retirement sitting in museums? Scratched your head over whether they’re just torn apart for future R&D? Well, here’s one chassis you no longer have to wonder about, the RB7 that Sebastian Vettel took to championship victory in 2011 (and nicknamed “Kinky Kylie”). New video evidence shows the 12-year-old F1 race car living its best life with Daniel Ricciardo behind the wheel, tearing up—the barren deserts of the Australian outback?

Yes, Oracle Red Bull Racing is welcoming Ricciardo back to the team this weekend at the 2023 Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix, and it thought to celebrate the occasion – a home race for the Australian, no less – by letting him rip around in the old RB7 for the twelfth instalment in its “Red Bull Racing Road Trip” video series.

The film shows Ricciardo bumping into a whole host of other Australian motorsport icons, beginning with enduro rally raid legend Daniel Sanders, whom he catches up to on a cattle ranch; aerobatic pilot Matt Hall, who meets him via stunt plane on the Sea Cliff Bridge; and the renowned Toby Price, racing around in a trophy truck.

It ends at the famous Bathurst race track, where Shane Van Gisbergen leads the RB7 around the Mount Panorama circuit in a supercar Camaro.

“After my first Red Bull Racing Road Trip in San Francisco, I’ve always wanted the opportunity to do this in Australia,” said Ricciardo. “To be back home, taking the RB7 across the Aussie outback, and sharing the best Australia has to offer with the world—what better way to celebrate my first F1 event at home since returning to Oracle Red Bull Racing?”
