Watch Kendrick Lamar Pay Tribute to Virgil Abloh During Louis Vuitton Men’s Spring/Summer 2023 Show Performance

Kendrick Lamar performed at the Louis Vuitton Men’s Spring/Summer 2023 collection show in Paris on Thursday, where he paid tribute to the late Virgil Abloh.

The show was streamed live and showcased upcoming pieces from the iconic fashion house’s upcoming collection, with an elaborate infinity runway that saw a marching band perform. Later on in the show, Kendrick performed from the crowd of attendees, as can be seen shortly after the ten-minute mark in the video above.

After a brief intro accompanied by an orchestra, Kendrick casually rapped the Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers highlight “Savior.” He followed it up with equally effortless performances of “Rich Spirit” and “Count Me Out,” which he then closed out with an outro that saw him pay tribute to the late Abloh, who was the artistic director for the fashion house before his passing last year. “Long live Virgil,” he said as the song ended, repeating Virgil’s name over and over again. He ended his contribution to the show with “N95.”

This isn’t the first time Kendrick has paid tribute to Abloh. At the Super Bowl halftime show in February, he wore LV by Abloh during his performance. The piece was taken from the Fall/Winter 2022 collection, which was billed as a consolidation of the “themes and messages of the eight-season arc Virgil Abloh created for Louis Vuitton.”

Kendrick recently celebrated his 35th birthday by teaming up with Spotify for a mini-documentary on his first trip to Ghana.
