NEW DELHI: Showcasing terrific athleticism and judgement UP Warriorz’ Kiran Navgire pulled off a superb catch to get rid of Delhi Capitals opener Shafali Verma in Match 5 of the Women’s Premier League in Navi Mumbai.
Safe hands of Navgire cut short Shafali’s (17) stay in the middle soon after the Powerplay.
The incident happened in the seventh over when Shafali was looking to flick pacer Tahlia McGrath over the fine-leg fence. The Delhi opener did time the ball well but failed to get the elevation right on the ball. Moving swiftly to her right, Navgire dived low to her right at the fence and grabbed a stunner. She then safely landed rolled over to complete a terrific grab.

Even though Warriorz did get the break early but skipper Meg Lanning (70) and contributions from the lower order ensured that Delhi posted 211 for 4 in their stipulated 20 overs.
Apart from Lanning, Jess Jonassen smashed an unbeaten 20-ball 42 while Jemimah Rodrigues also hit an unbeaten 22-ball 34.
For Delhi McGrath, Shabnim Ismail, Rajeshwari Gayakwad and Sophie Ecclestone grabbed a wicket apiece.
