Some of us tap our fingers on the steering wheel when Phil Collins’ “In The Air Tonight” hits its famous drum fill. Some of us nod our head to the beat when a catchy tune comes on. And some people, like this woman from Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, in southern Russia, decide to belly-dance when the driver cranks up the music, as per a Daily Mail article.

In the video, the woman, sitting on the rear passenger side of the SUV, diagonal from the driver, starts by sticking her upper body out of the window as she flails her arms. One-upping herself, she arches her back over the window sill and continues to “dance” until she loses balance and slowly falls out of the slow-moving Mitsubishi Pajero.

The clip makes it look far worse than it ended up, as while the passenger fell on her head and neck at a seemingly painful angle, she makes out okay. She stumbles in an attempt to regain her footing, and holds her presumably aching head with her left hand as she sits dazed on a live road.

It should be noted this part of Russia is a strict Muslim republic, and a local News Dagestan channel opined “Dangerous dances don’t lead to good things, especially on the roads and you are a girl showing a belly dance poking out of a car window.”

The 24-year-old driver, Sharap Kurbanov, said “I gave a lift to a young woman, and as I drove I put the music on too loud… I missed the moment [she started dancing], so the young woman fell out. In future, I promise to use seat belts and follow traffic rules, and suggest others do the same.”
