Watch: Ryan Reynolds in tears as Wrexham win fairytale promotion

The Hollywood influence at Wrexham has done the trick as Ryan Reynolds’and Rob McElhenney’s club earned promotion back to the football league.

Based at the famous Racecourse Ground, the club had fallen from grace considerably when the pair swooped in to save it from financial ruin and began one of the most incredible journey’s in football.

The club’s story is being tracked in a documentary series and few will want to wait for the episode that covers this particular chapter in their history.

Wrexham will be in the Football League once again next season after they clinched a 3-1 win over Boreham Wood on Saturday.

The victory secures them automatic promotion to League Two, the fourth tier of English football.

HRH William the Prince of Wales was among those to congratulate the historic club on their rise.

 “Congratulations @Wrexham_AFC! A club with such amazing history, looking forward to a very exciting future back in the Football League. Doing Wales proud. W,” the Royal wrote on Twitter.

Reynolds and and McElhenney were among a crowd of more than 10,000 that had packed into the Racecourse Ground.

Manager Phil Parkinson is the man who must take credit for getting the team winning on the pitch.

The club will now be faced with the challenge of staying in the Football League and climbing the ladder up through the divisions.

Wrexham have given football one of its great feel good stories, and they are quickly winning fans all over the world.
