The incident happened during the Match 23 between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals when GT opener Wriddhiman Saha miscued a flick off Trent Boult as he got early in the shot that went high straight up over the pitch.
RR skipper and wicketkeeper Sanju Samson ran forward from behind the stumps to take the catch but little did he know that the simple chance would turn into comedy of errors.
Other fielders Shimron Hetmyer from square leg and Dhruv Jurel from point also ran towards the pitch for catch but none of the three fielders ended up finding their name on the catch.
Samson got his gloves to the ball and collided with Hetmyer as the ball popped out of the gloves up into the air but an alerted Boult found himself in a good position to take the catch on rebound.
Earlier, RR put defending champions Gujarat Titans into bat after winning the toss.
