West Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday in connection with the alleged irregularities in the School Service Commission (SSC) recruitment in the state. This is his second appearance before the CBI in less than two weeks.

According to sources, Chatterjee may be asked about the reason behind the formation of the SSC advisory committee and who had control over it. He had reportedly informed the CBI during the previous interrogation that he had formed the committee but had no control over it. The investigating agency will question why he did not keep the committee under control despite him being the education minister at the time.

The former education minister had last appeared before the CBI on May 18 where he was interrogated for about three and a half hours.

Meanwhile, a division bench of the Calcutta High Court refused to grant relief to Partha Chatterjee on May 18 in connection with the case. The division bench did not accept the matter as the applicant did not submit the proper files.
