The governing body in charge of Fury’s world heavyweight title have set the split for his mandatory title defence against Whyte at a massive 80-20 in favour of the champion

Tyson Fury will receive 80 per cent of the purse for his mandatory title defence against Dillian Whyte because of the pair’s previous earnings.
Fury is a massive global name, whose last two fights have been big Stateside pay-per-view title fights with millions on the line against Deontay Wilder.
Meanwhile, Whyte is better known in the United Kingdom, and is said to have earned considerably less than Fury for his last three bouts, two against Alexander Povetkin and one with Mariusz Wach.
And Mauricio Sulaiman, the president of the WBC; the governing body that are responsible for Fury’s world heavyweight title, has said that previous purses dictated the massive split disparity.
“We ordered the fight on Thursday,” Sulaiman told BoxingScene.com last night. “The consideration for the 80/20 split comes from the purses the fighters have earned in their recent fights.”

“We cannot discuss any further details whatsoever due to the proceedings,” he continued. “The arbitration is still going on.
“Unfortunately, we’re in the process. We simply made the ruling today, and that’s where we are right now. That’s why we can’t make any further comments whatsoever.
“This has been a very frustrating process, but I am happy and hopeful that it will get done.”
Fury’s promoter Bob Arum has recently all but ruled out a fight with Whyte, given that the Londoner is looking for considerably more money than this 80/20 split would guarantee him.
Arum claims that Whyte’s team have looked for as much as $10million, which would be more than what Deontay Wilder earned in a 60-40 split against Fury earlier this year.
It remains to be seen if the issue can be resolved, with Fury willing to take a non-title fight against Andy Ruiz Jr or Robert Helenius in either Las Vegas or Cardiff next March should the Whyte bout become untenable.
The massive split difference that the WBC have ordered is actually a wider disparity than what Fury’s team initially put on the table.

“If he can think he can win and take the WBC title, stop cr****** around with the arbitration and looking to push for the biggest dollar,” Bob Arum told iFL TV earlier this week.
“Tyson is the bigger attraction, no-one has heard of Dillian Whyte in the United States really.
“We have offered him a deal with 25 per cent and a guarantee and let him negotiate from that, but again he says he wants eight-figures over ten million which is out of the question.
“The WBC will be talking about 25 per cent and 75 per cent from the champion but he needs to come to the table with a normal type of negotiation.”
The pair have until January 11 to come to an agreement until the fight goes to purse bids, which Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing has said he is looking to bid on should the time come.
