We have not made any offer to Wriddhiman Saha: GCA and BCA

Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha said that he hasn’t received any significant offer from any of the top states after he put forth his decision to move out of the Bengal domestic team.

Earlier it was learned that Saha could make a move to either Baroda or Gujarat. However, the two states have denied making any offers to Saha, who has played 40 Tests for India.

Previously, Saha said that he received offers “from quite a few state associations but I have not given my go-ahead to either of them.”

Senior GCA official Anil Patel said, “I can confirm that Gujarat Cricket Association has made no such offer to Wriddhiman Saha. We have a young keeper named Het Patel, who is doing very well for us. Why in the world would we try to spoil his career?”

Baroda CA secretary Ajit Lele, who is currently in the United States, mentioned that he doesn’t have any idea of his team approaching Saha.

“I am not in India for the past one month but as far as BCA is concerned, we have already roped in Ambati Rayudu as a professional. To the best of my knowledge, we haven’t sounded out Saha,” Lele was quoted as saying.

Recently, Saha was reported to join Tripura, but if reports are to be believed, his demand as professional fees over and above his match fee couldn’t be considered.

Saha, in the meantime, has asked for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) after Debabrata Das, the association joint secretary, had questioned his commitment and integrity and alleged that he faked injuries to skip Ranji Trophy matches.

Saha was furious with Das’s comments and wanted an unconditional apology, but nothing of that sort has happened as of now.

Since Rahul Dravid, the current head coach of the Indian cricket team, told him that at the age of 37, he is too old to be the reserve wicketkeeper, Saha has commented that he was dropped despite assurances from Sourav Ganguly, the BCCI president.

“We fully understand Saha’s disappointment after being dropped from the Indian team. But time and again, he is slyly bringing BCCI president in every media interaction and also talking about selection matters which is breaking clause of a centrally contracted player,” a BCCI source, on condition of anonymity, was quoted as saying.
