Weird Al brings Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour to S.F.

Get ready to laugh it up with Weird Al Yankovic, Bay Area.

The acclaimed entertainer has announced plans to bring his Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour to San Francisco for two shows.

Yankovic, who ranks as the biggest-selling comedy recording artist of all time, performs June 15 and 16 at the Golden Gate Theatre. Each concert will be different — with no songs repeated between the two shows — according to a news release. Tickets can be purchased as a two-night package or for each individual show.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Dec. 10 at broadwaysf.com. Two-day tickets are $190 and $658 VIP. Single day tickets are $55-$95 and $329 VIP.

The VIP package includes meet and greet with Yankovic (along with a photo with the artist), pre-concert game show, souvenir merchandise and VIP laminate, early access to the venue and an on-site VIP host.

Five-time Grammy winner Yankovic will be drawing from his 14 studio album catalog at these shows. Yet, it appears that fans shouldn’t expect to hear such popular parody numbers as “Eat It” and “Smells Like Nirvana.”

“As before, rather than focusing on the hits from his career, the show will feature Yankovic’s non-parody material — the somewhat more obscure pastiches and original songs that have largely escaped the pop culture radar but are adored by his long-time fans,” according to a news release. “And like the last Vanity Tour, he will be playing smaller, more intimate venues, leaving behind the high-octane theatrics that he’s known for and going bare-bones — no costumes, no props, no video screens… just Al and his band of almost four decades hanging out on stage, playing music.”

Yankovic says it’s been fun doing these stripped-down concerts.

“I’ve loved doing every single incarnation of my live show, but honestly the Vanity tour is the most fun I’ve ever had on stage… so I’ve been dying to get back out there and torture everybody with it once again!” he said in a news release.
