The XI International Open of Castilla y León for Adapted Swimming will gather this Saturday and Sunday, April 29 and 30to the elite of the Paralympic pool in Valladolid.

The competition organized by the Federation of Adapted Sports of Castilla y León (Fedeacyl) will also host the fourth day of the AXA Paralympic Swimming Leaguea competition that as a novelty travels throughout the national geography with the best athletes as participants.

In fact, Galician Jacobo Garrido, winner of the third day in Castellón last weekwill be in the CTD Río Esgueva pool as one of the favorites to win, after the successes in recent editions of the Basque Iñigo Llopis and the local swimmer, Marta Fernández from Burgos.

Precisely, the Paralympic standard-bearer at the Tokyo Games will be one of the ‘home’ favourites, along with her CD Fusion teammate, Luis Huerta, who will lead the participation of the Castilian and Leonese club, one of the best national entities, despite have little more than a decade of life.

The fight for victory in the Open, which will live its first day this Saturday, starting at 5:00 p.m. with the longer distance tests, with the 400 meters; which will be followed by the rest of the series until 7:00 p.m., the scheduled end time of the first session of the competition; which will be followed by its second and final day on Sunday, starting at 10:00 a.m.

In the Saturday session, the women’s 50 butterfly test stands out, where the participation of Marta Fernández, is added the presence of the Catalan Sarai Gascón, another of the most important Paralympic swimmers in the world; or Maria Delgado. The same will happen on Sunday, with the 100 free; with Gascón as the protagonist together with Fernández Infante.

A good number of local swimmers will also join the big names in the pool, with almost a dozen clubs from Castilla and Leon, with Asprona Valladolid and Fusion as hosts in Río Esgueva, but also with the presence of CD San ​​Juan from Palencia. Cebrián or Blue World; or CD Sonrisas, CD Estela or Puentesaúco from Burgos; or the Leonese of CD La Venatoria.

As in 2022, the competition can be seen in its entirety, in its double day, through a streaming that will take place on the YouTube channel ‘AguAstreaming’.

The Fedeacyl event, which has the support of the Junta de Castilla y León, will also serve as preparation for Marta Fernández or Luis Huerta for the Paralympic Swimming World Series, which is held in Berlin, from May 11 to 14; and to which the technicians from Valladolid Javier Alonso and Víctor Oli will attend.
