When you’re choosing your glam as a wedding guest, it’s vital to pick a lipstick that will last through cocktail hour and the reception without constant touch-ups. When you’re in the bridal party, though, your lip look needs to be impenetrable from sun up to… well, sun up. Last weekend, I was confronted with that very issue. I needed a formula that would survive from its first application at the ripe old hour of 10 a.m. right through the ceremony, photos, speeches, dinner, cake cutting, and an afterparty that would inevitably break even the bagpipe-playing uncles boasting flasks of Scotch and livers of steel.

Whereas gloss can be applied endlessly without repercussion, many matte liquid lipsticks I’ve tried over the years can end up getting crusty and flaky after even the smallest touch-ups. This new launch turned out to be one of the exceptions: I layered it over a color-matched lip liner in the morning before we left for the ceremony, and I didn’t think about it again until well after the bride cut the cake.
