Newcastle and Manchester United meet at St James’ Park this afternoon in a crucial game in the race for Champions League qualification.

Manchester United are currently sat in third place in the Premier League table, three points ahead of Newcastle in fifth with both sides having played the same number of matches.

Eddie Howe’s men have spent much of 2023 in danger of seeing their European dream slip away, but consecutive wins before the international break have seemingly got them back on track.

Erik ten Hag, meanwhile, will be looking for a repeat of the Carabao Cup final result in February to put some breathing space between The Red Devils and The Magpies.

What time does the game kick-off?

What happened in the games between the two sides earlier in the season?

The last time Newcastle and Manchester United played one another was that Carabao Cup final at Wembley, with the Mancunians running out 2-0 winners courtsey of first-half goals from Casemiro and Marcus Rashford.

The reverse Premier League fixture finished as a goalless draw back in October.

In what was virtually the last touch of the game, Rashford sent a Casemiro cross agonisingly wide to ensure Newcastle returned to the north east with a point.
