What is Pity in Genshin Impact? How to get a guaranteed 5 star character

0

Unlocking your favorite character in Genshin Impact can take lots of time, Primogems and Wishes, but the Pity system can help to increase your chances of guaranteeing that rare, 5-star Banner pull.

We’ve all been there: spending our hard-earned Primogems on a Wish in Genshin Impact, only to land with a 3-star item at best. It’s an even worse feeling if you’ve used up 10 Wishes and come out of it with a bunch of characters other than the 5-star that you want.

miHoYo’s Pity system can actually increase your chances of getting the rarest pull in the game, though, helping to make your Wishes hold a little more weight – so don’t give up hope just yet!

Will Genshin Impact take Pity on you with your next Banner rerun pull for Childe?

What is Pity in Genshin Impact?

Pity is a system that, quite literally, feels sorry for you if you haven’t managed to pull a 4 or 5-star character in a long time. It’s a neat way of guaranteeing that you’ll get a rare drop at a certain point, rather than needing to spend Primogems infinitely trying to get one.

It’s divided into two rarity classes:

  • 4-star, with a Pity marker of 10,
  • 5-star with a marker of 90.

This means that you are guaranteed a 5-star drop in Genshin Impact at 90 pulls and a 4-star at 10 if you haven’t managed to get one within that time.

Does Pity reset after a 5-star pull?

The counter will reset whenever you get something of that rarity, meaning if you get a 5-star at pull 59, it’ll reset to zero. This is completely random, and there is no way of controlling it.

Pity odds in Genshin Impact

While Pity odds for 4-star drops is 10 and 5-star is 90, this does change slightly with Character and Weapon Banners.

Usually, a Banner has a rule where if you pull a 4/5-star item that isn’t the featured one, it is guaranteed to be that one on the next rare pull. If you pull the featured item, your next drop of that rarity has a 50% chance of being a featured one.

In short, it’s easier to use Pity on a Banner with this bonus, rather than spending Primogems wildly and not getting the character or weapon you want.

Increase your odds with the Pity system to claim your most-wanted Banner rerun!

Players have been increasing their odds at getting Banner characters by using Genshin Impact’s Pity system, and it’s a pretty genius strategy.

If you’re looking to get Childe as your next 5-star pull, wrack up as much Pity as you’re able on the previous Banner and carry it over to The Tartaglia’s one. This will give you a higher chance of winning him.

Combine that with the special Banner odds mentioned previously, and you’ve got a pretty high chance at adding whoever you want to your team very soon.

Can I see what my Pity number is in Genshin Impact?

No, you cannot see what your Pity number is, so it is a good idea to keep a note so you know where you’re at with the count, especially if you’re aiming for a 5-star which has a Pity number of 90.

You can also follow these steps to see exactly where you’re at:

  1. Head to the ‘Wish‘ menu
  2. Click on ‘History‘,
  3. There, you’ll be able to count the number of pulls after the last 4/5-star drop.

So, there you have it – that’s everything you need to know about what Pity is in Genshin Impact.
