Having been on the British throne for 69 years, Queen Elizabeth II is the world’s longest-reigning monarch. In a thoroughly divided nation, the Queen is oft-considered one of the last remaining figures of unity; no matter how our political stances may vary, we all share an enormous level of respect for the head of state.

Speaking about the Queen, Prince William the Duke of Cambridge, said, “I think I speak for my generation when I say that the example and continuity provided by The Queen is not only very rare among leaders but a great source of pride and reassurance.”
