The Premier League has announced a brand new pre-season tournament for this summer.
The Premier League Summer Series 2023 will see six clubs take part in friendly matches across five cities on the East Coast of America.
But what exactly is this official competition and when will it take place?
Here is everything we know so far about the Premier League Summer Series.
What is the Premier League Summer Series?
The Premier League Summer Series will take place from July, 22 to July 30, 2023.
The tournament had been due to take place in 2022, but with issues surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic, it was put back by 12 months.
Leeds were reportedly set to be involved, but a question mark over their Premier League status owing to their relegation battle saw them replaced in the competition by Fulham.
Each side will play three games and they will not play another club more than once.
The format to determine the winning team will be announced by the Premier League in due course.
The only other Premier League-affiliated competition before the Summer Series was the Premier League Asia Trophy, which began in 2003 and was held biannually until 2019.
Premier League Summer Series schedule
Five cities will share hosting duties; Philadelphia, Atlanta, Orlando, New Jersey and Maryland.
The fixtures will form a vital part of the pre-season plans for the six clubs, with the Premier League 2023/24 season set to get underway on August 12.
