Jack Harrison has revealed that Paul Pogba was in awe of Leeds United’s home support when Manchester United travelled to Elland Road earlier this season.
The arch-rivals met in February in a pulsating game which ended 4-2 in favour of the away team, courtesy of goals from Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes, Fred and Anthony Elanga.
As expected, the atmosphere at Elland Road was raucous in what was Leeds’ first home game against United with fans in attendance since 2011.
‘Every week they [the fans] are amazing,’ Harrison told The Times ahead of Leeds’ Premier League game against Manchester City on Saturday
‘They’re super loud at home and travelling as well, we always have so many fans travelling, it’s incredible to have that fanbase.
‘Against Man United at home this year, Paul Pogba looked at me, and was looking around, going, “Wow, this is incredible! Is it like this for every game?!”
‘I said, “No, it’s a special occasion, just for you!”’
Harrison, 25, is used to the Elland Road theatrics having played 160 times for Leeds since first moving to the Yorkshire side in 2018, aiding the club’s long-awaited return to the top-flight in the progress.
He added: ‘Most of the time it is positive. If we’ve conceded a goal, it’s, “Come on, Jack, keep going, keep your head up”.
‘When things are going great, they’re so supportive and passionate. When things are going bad, they’ll let you know about it as well because of how passionate they are. That bond with the fans is unbreakable.’
The winger will once again be hoping that his supporters can help them in Saturday’s crucial game against Man City, Harrison’s former team.
There is plenty to play for at both ends of the table, with City leading the title race but just a point ahead of Liverpool, while Leeds are just five points clear of the relegation zone.
