Almost two weeks after their private romance was outed, insiders have revealed how Robert Irwin’s mum Terri really feels about her son’s relationship.
Late last month, photos emerged of the 19-year-old Irwin on a date with Rorie Buckey, who is the niece of the late Heath Ledger.
The young couple were spotted out together in public after a pap caught them on a sunset cuddle in Brisbane.
Insiders have revealed to New Idea that Irwin’s mum Terri is a fan of her son’s new missus.
“Terri is really happy for Robert and she likes Rorie but she’s urging him to take it slow for both their sakes,” a source told the publication.
“Terri knows all too well what it’s like to be in a relationship in the public eye. She wants to make sure they’re ready.”
Buckey was photographed sitting next to Terri enjoying a crocodile show.
“You could tell Terri was making sure there was no canoodling under her roof,” an onlooker added to New Idea.
“She sat between them whenever she could, it was quite funny.”
Last week, Daily Mail revealed that Buckey’s dad has also given his stamp of approval to the young couple.
When asked if he approved of his daughter’s relationship, he responded: “Absolutely, of course.”
This is Irwin’s first publicly confirmed romance. He was previously linked to Lucia Field, who is Blue Wiggle Anthony Field’s daughter.
