The icon of the game, Roger Federer played his last competitive match at Wimbledon only in the year 2021 where he got defeated in the quarters by Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz. The legend of the game, who has won the most Wimbledon titles, announced his retirement from the game last year due to no improvement in his knee injury.

This year, due to the absence of Rafael Nadal, all eyes would be on Novak Djokovic who will try to equal Roger Federer’s record of eight Wimbledon titles.
Murray’s Last Dance
Andy Murray might have not won the grand slams like Federer, Nadal and Djokovic but still he is one of the best to have ever graced the game. The man from Britain has won three grand slam titles to date out of which two came at his home. He was at the peak of his career in 2012-2013 when Murray won the US Open followed by Wimbledon in 2013.
With that remarkable victory, he became the first-ever British player to win the Wimbledon title. The great man repeated the feat in 2016 at the Championships when he once again lifted the beautiful trophy.

Now, with the recent loss at the Queen’s Club Championships, he will not be seeded at this year’s Wimbledon, which means the British player might have to play against Novak Djokovic, Denial Medvedev, or Carlos Alcaraz in the opening round which is going to be quite tough.
Novak Djokovic’s one-sided matches
The legend of the game, Novak Djokovic is having a dream run right now with yet another title to his name recently. He won the French Open and is now looking to win his eighth Wimbledon title in the pursuit of equalling Roger Federer’s record.
The Serbian player has been in tremendous form and this Wimbledon might go in his favour due to his unstoppable performance. With No Nadal this time, he hardly will face any tough opponent. With Djokovic in his prime right now, one would expect to witness one-sided matches featuring the star player.

Increased Prize Money
Wimbledon has come up with new earnings this time with the total prize money on offer at the tournament having risen to a record 44.7 million pounds for the Championships. It is an 11.2% increase as compared to the 2022 edition.
The singles’ champions in both men’s and women’s categories will get to bag 2.35 million pounds each while the respective runners-up will be bagging north of 1 million pounds each. The losing semi-finalists will get a compensation of 600 thousand pounds each as well.
This is a massive boost to the tournament as well as to the players as they are set to earn more this time which will also give them the motivation to play better.
Rybakina, Jabeur, or Swiatek?
Elena Rybakina and Ons Jabeur competed in the final of the Championships last year Elena Rybakina stunned everyone when she won her maiden Wimbledon title last year after defeating Ons Jabeur by 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Now, it’s time for her to defend her title which is never easy for any player.
For the Kazakhstan player to create history, she needs to face tough competition from the players including Australian Open Champion Aryna Sabalenka. World number one Iga Swiatek will also be in contention after starring on the clay and bagging the 2023 French Open title.

Last year’s runner-up Jabeur would be looking to move one step further this time and claim the title as she was tremendous last year but couldn’t finish. Katie Boulter from England and the American star Coco Gauff are also prime contenders for the title.
Relaxation in female clothing
This is one of the important decisions that the organizers have come up with as female tennis stars are now allowed to wear dark-coloured undershorts as per the players’ desires.
The decision came because the organizers were facing pressure to reduce anxieties as to whether blood is visible on white clothes for the players who are menstruating. The newly inducted law must have made all female players relaxed as now they can play freely and perform at their best in the upcoming tournament.
