On further concern by users if their data would be protected by European law, they responded on Twitter: “It doesn’t matter in the world where you are. If we hold your data, our obligation under European law to protect your privately tracked data is the same. No US Court or other authority can override that, since we are not based in the U.S. Our user data cannot simply be subpoenaed from the U.S. We are subject to the jurisdiction of the German and European courts, who apply European privacy law.”

Me V PMDD

When approached by GLAMOUR, period symptom tracker app Me V PMDD said: “This situation with the overturn of Roe in the US is heartbreaking. We are definitely concerned about our users and the privacy of their data.”

They are transparent about the data they collect from users, stating in their privacy policy that they “may use your symptom and treatment tracking data to create anonymous information for academic and clinical research purposes. Any data shared for research purposes cannot be associated with you as an individual or identify you in any way.”

Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Zendesk, and Bugsnag are the only third-party services with which they share your personal tracking data.

They make it clear that a user has the right to request them to erase the personal data they hold about them.

EVE TRACKER APP

Eve Tracker by Glow issued a statement that many thought failed to address how they store users’ data, especially in the aftermath of the ruling.

They tweeted: “We know everyone has seen the news on the Supreme Court’s decision on Roe vs Wade. This is a highly charged and emotional issue for the community and we hear you and we are with you.

“In the 10 years since the creation of our company, our number one goal has always been to build the best products for our users. Doing anything that violates their trust would go against our core values, we’ll always do our very best to get things right and serve our users well.

“We fully realize that rules and regulation around data privacy is complex and constantly changing. We promise that we will always strive to do better, listen to our users and continue to uncompromisingly protect our users’ privacy and personal health information.

“We will do our very best to make every single Glow user’s experience as positive and safe as it can be.”

One concerned user responded: “While I respect this statement and like that you guys spoke up, can you explicitly say “we will not sell your data and private information”. The wording used leaves room for interpretation and I think clear messaging is best right now.”

Meanwhile, their website states that they use users’ personal information for service delivery, research and development, marketing and advertising, and compliance and protection.

FLO PERIOD & OVULATION
