Jimmy White secured his progression to the second round of Cazoo UK Championship qualifying with a 6-0 demolition of Brazil’s Victor Sarkis.
This year’s UK Championship format has been altered to a tiered structure, which is similar to the one in operation at the World Championship. The qualifying event runs until November 10th, with streaming throughout on discovery+ and from Monday on WST’s Facebook and YouTube channels. London’s 1992 UK Champion White crafted breaks of 50, 92 and 55 on his way to this morning’s win. The 60-year-old’s reward is a clash with world number 72 Mitchell Mann.
Alfie Burden rallied from 4-1 down to beat impressive Welsh youngster Liam Davies 6-4. The 16-year-old crafted four breaks over 50 to establish his early advantage, but Englishman Burden summoned five on the bounce to emerge the victor. He now plays Switzerland’s Alexander Ursenbacher.
Michael White stormed to a 6-0 win over Jake Crofts. The two-time ranking event winner top scored with 107 and plays Zhang Jiankang in round two.
Fergal O’Brien defeated Women’s World Champion Mink Nutcharut 6-0, while James Cahill beat Liam Graham 6-2. They earn respective ties against Robbie Williams and Dominic Dale.
