Netflix just broke the internet after announcing who will play Kate Middleton and Prince William in The Crown season 6 and Meg Bellamy is about to become a household name.
The drama series has just cast its Prince Williams—one to play the now 40-year-old as a teenager, the other to play him in his late teens and early 20s—and its Kate Middleton for season six – and it may come as a surprise that no one has heard of the actress chosen to play the Duchess of Cambridge.
Meg Bellamy will star in The Crown as young Kate around the age when she and William first met at the University of St. Andrews, where they studied art history, so what do we know about the recent school leaver and how did she land this major career-defining role?
Meg, 19, who once worked at Legoland Windsor, has shot out of nowhere to land one of the most coveted roles in the final season of the Netflix royal drama and we imagine this is just the first we’ll be seeing of her.
Meg is a former head girl at St Crispin’s comprehensive school in Wokingham, Berkshire, which is super close to where Kate grew up, and was selected for the role after her self-taped audition impressed producers after they put out a casting call on social media.
Obviously as her first ever role, there’s little to report on Meg’s career to date but we do know that she has no professional acting experience but she has studied amateur dramatics and film-making, scoring an A* in her drama A-level. She also has a number of school productions under her belt and apparently worked as a performer at Legoland in Windsor.
