This Reese’s comes in two pieces (just go with it, our next holiday is Halloween, I don’t make the rules). Reese Witherspoon and her daughter Ava Phillippe continue to be gosh-dang doppelgängers, and their latest mother-daughter selfie has us seeing double. Like, this is an optical illusion, right?
In matching hotel robes and almost identical hair (Ava has her mom’s blonde waves but not her bangs—she appears to be growing those out), the pair are almost identical. “Perfect Summer night with my girl @avaphillippe ???? ????learning all about @oceana incredible conservation work ???? ✨????,” the Oscar winner wrote.

“Why does Ava look more like Reese Witherspoon than Reese Witherspoon,” asked one commenter. “Dammit, y’all are beautiful are y’all twins?” added another. Others protested that Ava is the spitting image of her father, Ryan Phillippe, to which we say, This isn’t about him.
Though she’s pedigreed on both sides, the 23-year-old doesn’t seem to be following her parents’ footsteps in front of the camera. She’s more into visual art, and you can see some of her photography and drawings here.
Buuuut that doesn’t mean she won’t be called upon to portray a young Elle Woods (should the need arise) or Elle’s daughter—whichever the eventual script calls for. Writer Mindy Kaling, who has been attached to a third Legally Blonde movie for years, revealed, “Listen, I think I can do anything, and if that’s something [Ava] wanted to do, what a joy to have her in that.” Kaling also opened up about what it was like working with Ava’s brother Deacon on Never Have I Ever: “He’s obviously, like, very handsome, and we had a great time with him on set, and he is like his mom where, after he wrapped, he sent me a handwritten note, thanking me for being on set. You could just tell Reese is his mom. You’re just like, ‘Oh, you’re a good person. I can’t imagine anyone saying a bad thing about you. You’re one of those.’”
The Witherspoon genes are just that strong!
