Final Fantasy 7 is celebrating its 25th anniversary: the iconic JRPG by Squaresoft was first released in Japan on January 31, 1997, and while news of a special stream is making the rounds, you shouldn’t expect Remake news out of it.
Final Fantasy VII was for many fans outside Japan the first-ever Final Fantasy they played. The PS1 (and later PC) game is still beloved to the point it’s one of the Final Fantasy games with the most spinoffs. All forming the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII.
Furthermore, Square Enix launched an ambitious remake project and released Final Fantasy VII Remake in 2020. Since then, Square Enix stated multiple times to be working on the sequel, and Tetsuya Nomura already shared some details. As such, fans around the world are all waiting for Final Fantasy VII Remake “Part 2” news.

“Final Fantasy 7 25th anniversary stream” explained
Several Final Fantasy VII fans on social media have been excitedly sharing the news of an upcoming “Final Fantasy 7 25th anniversary stream”.
However, if you look up the official announcement for that stream, you’ll find out it’s from the Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier Japanese Twitter account. The stream was announced on January 26 and will be held on January 31 at 5 AM EST.
Furthermore, the stream’s official description specifically states “New information about Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier will be shared”. You shouldn’t expect anything else.
With that said, the stream should be pretty fun to watch as Tetsuya Nomura (voice only) and Yoshinori Kitase will appear and share their memories of Final Fantasy VII. The stream will also feature Kasumia Ashizawa as MC and FF7 The First Soldier producer Shoichi Ichikawa.
