Even when Lisa wears a flashier color or bolder print, she still wears it in an effortless way. Other characters on the show have a tendency to feel overly styled, but Lisa always gets it just right. Carrie will grab a bodega coffee in a tulle skirt, but Lisa will wear a bright pink Elzinga blazer and bright yellow Max Mara shorts to pick up her kids and look realistic (if elevated). All together, the pieces are extra-colorful, maybe even blinding, yet it doesn’t feel too much for 8 a.m. It’s as though she simply rolled out of bed and threw it all on.
Great style also seems to run in the Wexley household. Her mother-in-law, Eunice Wexley (portrayed by Pat Bowie), is a style star too. Lisa first describes Eunice to Charlotte as “a world-renowned concert pianist, and an even more accomplished pain-in-my-ass,” but they share a strong aesthetic. During the dinner party scene, Eunice is wearing a monochromatic gray look complete with a metallic silver coat; At her grandson’s piano recital, Eunice slinks in wearing a pink satin evening coat, finished off with a glamorous cream headscarf. Truly divalicious.
With the rest of the series set to air these coming weeks, we can only hope that both Lisa and Eunice get the air time they deserve. From what we’ve seen so far, they’re already injecting stellar fashion into the mix. Yes, they may be secondary characters, but their closets deserve a front-and-center treatment. Watch out, Carrie!
