Wilder refuses to bury hatchet with Fury as Brit accused of ‘cheating’

Deontay Wilder has made it clear that he will never make up with Tyson Fury. The pair were involved in a bitter trilogy defined by hatred stemming from numerous accusations following their second fight.

After a competitive inaugural encounter which ended in a draw, Fury rebounded a year later and stopped The Bronze Bomber for the first time in his professional career. Wilder, baffled by the Mancunian’s ‘newfound power’, accused him of “loading” his gloves – a view that he maintains to this day.

“Nah, never [will I make up with Fury], because I know the truth behind that,” Wilder told FightHype.com. “I don’t condone cheating and s*** like that. I know that no matter what people say. It’s just like you got analysts that say ‘If he did have something in his glove why did you not go to the authorities?

“I wish I was in front of them [analysts] and I would grab their collar and put them close to my face so we can be eye to eye, face to face, so much that my breath touch their face, and I would tell them, ‘why the f*** would I go to the authorities when I have an opportunity to release my own energy and put my hands up on him in the possibility of trying to kill him and get paid millions of dollars doing it.’ Why would I go to the authorities?

Wilder went on to get stopped again in their third fight, this time in an even more brutal fashion. Following the defeat, many wondered if the American would ever return to competition after such a crushing blow but Wilder stood firm.

Now, he aims to claw himself back into the world title picture and go for a second run at the belt. His comeback begins on October 15 when he faces former sparring partner Robert Helenius at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
