In the mood for some second hand awkwardness? Cool, well the royals just stepped out for a pre-scheduled Christmas event mere hours after the second half of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Netflix docuseries release. And while Volume I was pretty chill, Volume II was full of allegations. Like, Prince Harry straight up said that Prince William screamed and shouted at him during a meeting, and he also accused the palace of lying in a statement.
But the royals have seemingly adopted ye olde “never complain, never explain” philosophy and gathered for Together at Christmas, hosted by Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey.
Kate arrived first to the event looking relatively unbothered by Prince Harry’s allegations earlier in the day.
Prince William, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte later joined her for the caroling event.
Meanwhile, King Charles showed up with Queen Camilla, and the vibe was very much ~keep calm and carry on~.
This is Charles and Camilla’s *second* event of the day, as they spent this morning at the London’s Community Kitchen facilities.
You can get a full run-down of some of the biggest revelations from Harry & Meghan below, but one of the most interesting moments came when Harry implied that Kate and William were jealous of Meghan’s popularity.
“The issue is, when someone who’s marrying in, who should be a supporting act, is then stealing the limelight, or is doing the job better than the person who was born to do this, that upsets people,” Harry explained, as the viewer was shown headlines about the Sussexes being more popular than other senior royals (along with footage of Kate Middleton and then-Prince Charles).
“It shifts the balance,” he added, “because you’ve been lead to believe the only way that your charities can succeed, the only way that your reputation can be grown or improved, is if you’re in the front page of those papers. But the media are the ones who choose who to put on the from page.”
