Will Real Madrid benefit from signing Bernardo Silva? Explained

The Portugal international’s future at Manchester City has been the subject of speculation in recent times, even though the Portuguese ace still remains an important player under Pep Guardiola.

Silva has made 31 appearances for the Cityzens across competitions this season, scoring twice in the process and providing five assists. Since his move to Manchester from AS Monaco in 2017, Silva has made 282 appearances for the club, scoring 50 goals and providing 56 assists.

He has been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona from last summer onwards. However, the deal didn’t go through last summer due to the Blaugrana’s multiple signings and much-publicized financial issues.

However, the aforementioned report suggests that the player is now keen on a move to Real Madrid. Chairman Florentino Perez and manager Carlo Ancelotti are big admirers of the Portugal international. Considering Silva’s quality, he could be a great addition to Los Blancos’ team.

Bernardo Silva

He is currently contracted with Manchester City until the end of the 2024-25 season. However, he could be on the move this summer having been unhappy in England for quite a while now.

With Luka Modric at the dusk of his career and Toni Kroos also in his thirties, Silva could be the perfect successor to either of the two. Thanks to his versatility, he is also an option in the wide areas and at number ten. At 28 years of age, he still has a few years left in him and could be a brilliant acquisition for Los Blancos.

From Manchester City’s point of view, cashing in on Silva also makes sense with the playmaker already unsettled at the club. Selling him would make room for new arrivals as the Cityzens are already looking to rebuild their side.
