The French giants experienced another disappointing Champions League run as they were knocked out of the competition by Bayern Munich with a 3-0 aggregate in the round of 16.
Despite consisting of some of the biggest superstars of the game like Lionel Messi, Neymar, Sergio Ramos, etc, PSG seems to be failing every time on Europe’s greatest stage. As a result many fans and pundits now have started suggesting one of the future superstars of the game Kylian Mbappe of a probable switch to Real Madrid.
Real Madrid have arguably been the best team in Europe over the longer period of recent times. A club which have always targeted the best talents in the game, unsurprisingly approached Mbappe last summer. At the conclusion of the previous season, the Frenchman came very close to signing for Madrid on a free transfer.
The move was apparently almost finalized, but the player at the end chose to extend his deal with Paris through 2025. The rumour mill regarding Mbappe and Real Madrid faded off slowly. However, the early exit of PSG have restarted the link-up.
Some bit about the rumours could well be true. However, looking at the current situation and position, a movement this big is not expected at the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of this season.
The Madrid authorities will keep an eye on Mbappe’s status but won’t make any special efforts to sign him ahead of next season. Any attempt to get him will only generate if the player forces a move.
Madrid’s next agenda ahead of next season is to replace Karim Benzema with a younger star and sign a midfielder. As a result, getting a wide attacker like Mbappe is off the list for them as of now. Madrid will definitely keep an eye on the French superstar but as of now he definitely is not the priority.
